Forest Certifications
French Oak
Our French oak stave mill, Merrain International, is certified through the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, as are the French oak barrels we craft in the United States and France. This certification verifies we source our French oak from sustainably managed and certified forests.
American Oak
Our domestic stave mills and cooperages achieved certification to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative®. All American oak barrels manufactured domestically are certified to the SFI Fiber Sourcing Standard.

Processes & CertificationsWe bring our sustainability approach forward into our production process by utilizing 100% of the oak that we purchase. Wood that does not go into stave, heading, or oak alternative material is utilized internally as fuel or sold as high quality by-products to be used in other industries.
Considering the long-term impact of our production process is a cornerstone of our efforts to become a more sustainable cooperage company and decrease our carbon footprint.
