Independent Stave Company Advances Renewable Energy Commitment with Solar Installations Across Three Global Facilities
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Columbia, MO [April 23, 2026)] — Independent Stave Company (ISCO) announced the completion of a solar panel installation at its mill in Benton, Kentucky, marking a milestone in its renewable energy journey. Solar projects are now operational across three facilities worldwide, part of an effort to expand renewable energy across its operations in support of its greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction strategy. These efforts advance ISCO's 2030 Impact Strategy, which charts a clear path toward reducing emissions, increasing renewable energy use, and embedding sustainability into the company's long-term business decisions.
"Our renewable energy investments are more than individual projects. They represent how we are building a more resilient, forward-looking business. By integrating solar power directly into our operations, we are reducing emissions today while laying the foundation for the long-term goals outlined in our 2030 Impact Strategy," said CEO Brad Boswell..
ISCO continues to expand renewable energy across its operations with solar installations now active at two cooperages and one stave mill, spanning facilities in South America, Australia, and the United States. Each project contributes renewable electricity directly to facility operations, reducing reliance on conventional grid power and lowering associated Scope 2 emissions. These projects represent the early phases of a broader, multi-year strategy to scale renewable energy across ISCO’s global operations, with additional opportunities already under consideration.
“This milestone reflects our broader environmental commitments—reducing emissions, improving energy efficiency, and responsibly managing natural resources from forest to finished product,” says Sustainability Director, Elizabeth Van Emst. “By taking consistent, measurable steps, we are building the foundation for long-term climate progress.”
On-site solar represents a foundational element of ISCO's renewable energy roadmap. As the company continues to evaluate additional opportunities it remains focused on solutions that deliver positive environmental impact, operational resilience, and long-term value. This approach positions ISCO to steadily advance its climate goals while strengthening the sustainability of its global operations.
